BIOGRAPHY:

Forming in the warm waters of The Caribbean, sea co-ordinates : St. John Barbados to be exact, a category five hurricane is coming your way…bringing thunderous energy, lightning strikes of excitement and floods of music to rock your every core!

Miguel…a name I dare you to forget!

The grandson of the first female band leader in Barbados, Barbara Cheltenham of Barbara & The Rhythmaires nurtured his skill as a lead vocalist in an acapella group at age 13. Developing storm force winds, Miguel made Barbadians begin to take caution in 2002 when he placed second in The Junior Monarch Competition. By this time Miguel had already charted his course knowing full well it was to head into the music industry, after all, music is in his veins!

This showcase of natural talent resulted in him being called to the band Cynagee, and later to one of the top bands in Barbados at the time Coalishun (later called X-TA-C). With Coalishun is where all the excitement began to explode as he began touring the region on his first performance! Continuing to explore his wide array of talent, he joined the band Blaze in 2003, and in that same year recorded his first single “Surrender” at Chambers Studios with Grammy Award nominee Nicholas Brancker. The single is found on the album “Sonic Soca” which was the best selling album in Barbados in 2003. Since then Miguel has worked with renowned individuals in the soca arena such as Dwaine “Dwaingerous” Antrobus, Andre “Drumma” Forde, Peter Coppin, Khiomal Nurse and The Red Boys.

Coming with a vengeance, Miguel ripped through the lyrical world in 2004 when he co-wrote the winning song for Junior Monarch King Rico “Coco” Gaskin along with Brad Linton. 2006…the eye of the storm glided into the hearts of the ladies with The One and Cutie Girl. Miguel, showing his calm and mesmerising side toured the UK with the band Strategy, Tony Norville and Magnet Man, appeared at BET Brooklyn Fashion Week and on 106 & Park.

Winds began to gradually pick back up as Miguel teamed up with The Red Boys and dancehall superstar Baby Quinn to produce the smash hit Die 4 U. The energy of a lightning strike attracting you to his persona, sweet melodic voice singing in your ears like the gusty winds and thunderous bass notes of an infectous rhythm…the vibe felt in nightclubs across Barbados and spreading as far as L.A, Boston and Pennsylvania.

Don’t be fooled, after the eye passes comes the most violent winds, heaviest rain and worst thunderstorms. He made Barbados aware of his arrival by writing, co-arranging and producing the groovy raggasoca Slow Wine for upcoming aritist JaDon. The stubborn few who were unprepared were shocked when he placed in the top ten of The Party Monarch Competition on his first attempt at singing soca and debut in the competition. “Get On De Road” took him to fetes across Barbados and to Labour Day on Barbados’ truck hosted by Pyramid Entertainment.

Miguel has the time of his life onstage and unlike many persons he can actually boast that he loves his job. He’s currently in the studio working on something big! He’s coming, stronger, faster, harder…bringing that energy that is Miguel! Don’t say you were not warned…brace yourself! Edgy music, different flavour and good vibes is what he's bringing and he isnt holding back...he's coming dangerous! As Miguel would say “When we workin’ and makin’ that good stuff…we crankin!”
